Prime Living Magazine Interview

A HUGE thank you to everyone who entered the Give Away last week.  It was a huge success.  We have a winner: “Cape On The Corner!”  Make sure to check your email.

At the beginning of July, I got such an amazing opportunity.  I was contacted by Prime Living Magazine for an interview on aviation in design.  It was a total out of body experience.  I felt like Carlton getting talked to by Tyra, or should I say “Jackie.”

I’ve talked a few times on the blog about my love for aviation, and getting my pilot’s license.

Even though we’re not 100% finished with our basement family room, we wanted a subtle aviation theme to run through out (with maps, color, metal, and art).

This is the plane I was talking about in my interview, the B-17 Liberty Belle Flying Forteress.  Such a historic aircraft.  I was lucky to snag a ride in it.  Perks of working on the private side of the airport I suppose.  That and eating your weight in left over catering.

  • This blog struck home with me. We are getting ready to move into our home as soon as they finish building it. My husband is a retired pilot and his office will have an airplane theme. I love the idea of the metal that you used in your space. I’ll be using some of the models of all the different airplanes he’s flown in addition to some older aircrafts. I have a couple of old maps that will be framed and I’ll “rescue” his log books before he throws them out. Yikes…little did he realize that I’d be using them as part of the decor. Thanks for this blog.

Oh thanks Vickie!! I have seen some really cool aviation themed offices. Your husband will love your plan. I keep all my old log books and sectional maps for future projects too. You’ll have to send me pictures when you’re done with the office. I would LOVE to see it and feature it!

      • Thanks Kenz. I’ll be sure and let you know when it’s done!
