Star-Struck: The Handbuilt Home

Last night I got to meet Ana White, DIY goddess.  She is an amazing blogger and DIYer.  Her real title should be “Power Tool Whisperer.”  Home-girl has got style and talent.

I was completely giddy and nervous.  I was meeting my first internet celebrity.  Professional bloggers like her, John & Sherry, Mandi, Shelley, Kit (and tons more!) are my major role models.    I didn’t even know how to talk to her.  Once I was able to spit out that I was a wee blogger, she told me what it was like in the beginning days of her blog.  She said it was “Crickets” for a long time.  She encouraged me to keep up the hard work and not give up.  She asked if I wanted a picture.  I was so nervous.  I started sweating awkwardly, and couldn’t produce a natural smile, and remembered I wasn’t wearing ANY make up.  Yeah, a real trainwreck.  She was still incredibly nice to me.

If you don’t follow her blog, start now.  She writes practical plans on how to build furniture from scratch.  She includes the shopping list and everything.

Ana has worked her way up to author status (which is a major dream come true and huge success for a blogger).  Her book, The Handbuilt Home is full of easy to follow plans to build furniture.  It’s like a DIY cookbook.  I HIGHLY recommend it to you.  You can buy it here, on Amazon for $15.63.  Do it.

See?  Super easy!  This book is worth every penny.  I’m so excited to have a copy.  I have already picked out what I’ll be building.  So did you get a copy?
